An Open Letter to Central Cee
BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH
Asalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh, Central Cee.
I pray that Almighty ALLAH preserves you, guides you, and grants you goodness in this life and the next.
I wanted to write to you because I genuinely believe you are standing at a unique moment in your life.
Before Ramadan 1447, you publicly announced that you had accepted Islam. Although it was mentioned briefly during a live session, the news spread across the world. Many people were happy to hear it, and many Muslims made du'a for you.
Accepting Islam is the beginning of a journey, not the end of one. Every Muslim struggles in one way or another, and guidance comes step by step.
One thought has remained with me ever since your announcement.
I also learned that you chose the name Aqeel.
It is a beautiful name, derived from the Arabic root ʿaql (عقل), which relates to intellect, reason, and sound judgment.
Perhaps, then, one of the greatest ways to honour your new name is to reflect deeply on the path before you. To think carefully about the legacy you wish to leave, the hearts you wish to influence, and the message you wish your voice to carry.
Many people assume that if a successful rapper embraces Islam, he must choose between faith and financial success. I don't believe that has to be true.
As someone who has spent time studying content and marketing, I believe there is another path.
You have the opportunity to create something the world has never seen before.
Imagine rapping—not with musical instruments, but with your voice and rhythm—about your experiences as a new Muslim. About fear. About hope. About change. About mistakes. About finding purpose. About the struggle of leaving behind what harms you while trying to hold onto what is good.
People are drawn to stories of transformation. Authentic stories travel far because they are real.
Your acceptance of Islam already became global news. Imagine what could happen if you honestly shared that journey through halal artistic expression.
You have already changed drill music in certain ways before. Perhaps ALLAH may allow you to pioneer something beneficial once again.
I also understand that walking away from an established career can be frightening. Many artists fear poverty or losing everything they have built.
But provision comes from ALLAH.
If your platform begins calling people toward light instead of darkness, perhaps your influence could become even greater than it is today.
Your tattoos, your background, and your life story may also become a reminder to others who feel they are "too far gone" that Islam welcomes anyone who sincerely turns back to ALLAH.
No one becomes perfect overnight.
We all continue striving.
My hope is simply that your influence becomes a source of guidance rather than something that strengthens Shayṭān's efforts to spread indecency, hopelessness, and harmful lifestyles.
May ALLAH guide you to what pleases Him, place barakah in your wealth, protect your heart, and make you among those whose talents become a means of benefiting humanity.
"And they planned, and ALLAH planned. And ALLAH is the Best of planners."
— Qur'an 3:54

AFTERTHOUGHTS
Yes, I am delusional, and I actually hope that Almighty ALLAH will guide these musicians through my words. However, more than guiding these already established musicians, by writing these letters, I am hoping that young Muslims will not make the same mistakes or follow in the footsteps of these musicians.
One of the four greatest Imams of Islam—Imam Ash-Shafi'i—wanted to become a musician.
Can you imagine that?!!!!
His mother refused.
Now, several hundred years after his death, we are still studying his works like addicts.
SubhanaLLAH.
Listen, dear sibling in faith. Don't let Shayṭān deceive you.
Where are the superstars from the time of Imam Ash-Shafi'i???
They are forgotten. COMPLETELY.
It is the teacher, the author, Imam Ash-Shafi'i, whom we are all quoting today!!!
The work of musicians might have some benefit.
Even Almighty ALLAH tells us that alcohol has some benefits in the Qur'an.
But our Lord still tells us to avoid it because it has more harm than benefit.
So, I won't deny the benefits of music.
However, its harm and destruction are too alarming!!!!
Go and look at every genre of music that started well. What has it become today????
Do you think all those lewd words were there from the beginning???
It all started with great (sometimes extremely religious and wise) lyrics.
Go and search!!!!
The fact that there are so many Muslim musicians who are corrupting the earth doesn't mean that you should join them.
Ask ALLAH for what is halal, and you will find the halal sufficient.
Remember, there are Muslims who will enter Hell before Paradise.
DO NOT RISK IT.
You don't know the journey of these musicians, and you have no idea whether ALLAH will forgive them based on their unique journeys.
But do not copy them!!!
I have an assignment for you: go and read Qur'an 2:208, then tell me what it says.
