Why I call myself an Artist

Why I call Myselt an Artist BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH I am Hamidah Abbas , an Islamic thinker. I completed the Muslim Intellectual Development Program (Sharī'ah Intelligence Training) on 17 June 2026 . The five-day training was held at Bayseone Hall, opposite the NASFAT praying ground, Samonda, Ibadan, Oyo State. It was organised by the Da'wah Institute of Nigeria, Islamic Education Trust (IET), Minna, in collaboration with the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN). As a thinker, I have many interests and areas of research. However, my core area of interest is gender and polygamy in Islam . A simple way to summarise everything I do is: Spreading light. Whether it is “music”, salvation, agriculture, gender and polygamy in Islam, or society, my objective has always been to make things a little brighter than they were before. For me, it has always been light over darkness . I am from Ìbàdàn, Oyo State, Nigeria . I hold a Bachelor of Agriculture degree from the Fed...

Why I Chose Authorship Over Social Media

Why I Chose Authorship Over Social Media BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH Social media is an amazing place to create. For many people, it is exactly where they belong. I genuinely believe that people who naturally thrive on social media are journalists by nature. My theory is that those humans are what I call “The Journalist Type”. They enjoy reporting and commenting on current events, sharing updates, and producing a steady stream of content. Society benefits tremendously from their work. But I don't think everyone is built that way. If you're a thinker, philosopher, researcher, or someone whose natural inclination is to write books, essays, or long-form reflections, social media may not be your ideal place to create. I'm talking to those whose art involves thinking intensely and deeply, reading, writing, listening, researching, and reflecting. In other words, those who didn't choose to live the life of the mind. Rather, they were created and built to live the life of t...

Different Stars (The Twelve Months)

Different Stars (The Twelve Months) BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH You see, when you're in a room full of great people working for ALLAH , Shayṭān will also start working hard. So remember: you're all like the twelve months of the year. One of you could be Muḥarram —the Month of ALLAH . Another person could be Ramaḍān —the month of the Qur'an. Another could be Dhul-Ḥijjah —the month of Hajj. And on and on, with such perfect precision by ALLAH . Each of us has our own unique role. Each of us has our own unique strength. We're all differently made. There are billions and billions of stars. So do not be intimidated by a star that shines differently. Rather, focus on your unique shine. Ask ALLAH to help you see where you shine. You're all doing the work of light. So, defeat the darkness of Shayṭān . This reminds me of something Julia Galef once said : “A lot of activists spend a lot of energy attacking other groups who agree with them 90% but they fight o...

Paying for Islamic Knowledge

Paying for Islamic Knowledge BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH I genuinely believe that the habit of Muslims refusing to pay for Islamic knowledge is inspired by Shayṭān . Narrated by Ibn ‘Abbas, the Messenger of ALLAH ﷺ said: "The payment that you receive the most deservedly is what you are given for Allah's Book." — Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī We would never ask medical doctors to work for free. We would also never ask them to work part-time as medical doctors whilst doing something else to earn a living. They care for our physical health, so we value them too much to ask that from them. However, when it comes to Islamic researchers, we demand that they work for free. We even angrily insist that they should do something else to earn a living. We suggest that they should carry out Islamic research only part-time. This anger is clearly from Shayṭān . Likewise, this attitude of underestimating what it takes to conduct thorough Islamic research is from Shayṭān . It is Shayṭān who ...

An Open letter to Central Cee

An Open Letter to Central Cee BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH Asalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh, Central Cee. I pray that Almighty ALLAH preserves you, guides you, and grants you goodness in this life and the next. I wanted to write to you because I genuinely believe you are standing at a unique moment in your life. Before Ramadan 1447, you publicly announced that you had accepted Islam. Although it was mentioned briefly during a live session, the news spread across the world. Many people were happy to hear it, and many Muslims made du'a for you. Accepting Islam is the beginning of a journey, not the end of one. Every Muslim struggles in one way or another, and guidance comes step by step. One thought has remained with me ever since your announcement. I also learned that you chose the name Aqeel . It is a beautiful name, derived from the Arabic root ʿaql (عقل) , which relates to intellect, reason, and sound judgment. Perhaps, then, one of the greatest ways to honour y...

Students Who Learn and Students Who Pass

Students Who Learn and Students Who Pass BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH There are students who are there to learn, and there are students who simply want to pass. Those who want to learn ask questions. They remind teachers about assignments. They engage actively in the learning process. This can sometimes irritate those who only want to pass. Their primary concern is simply moving on to the next class without repeating the current one. As a result, tension may develop. The unmotivated students can feel intimidated by the motivated ones. It doesn't have to be this way. With the right coaching and classroom culture, motivated students can become a source of inspiration rather than intimidation. Their enthusiasm can encourage others to discover the joy of learning. May Almighty ALLAH preserve you and all the primary educators of our land. Sincerely, Hamidah Sẹ̀gílọlá Abbas (HSA) Author, Hall of Light https://about.me/hamidahabbas

Almighty ALLAH said about the mothers of Believers

BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH Here comes a beautiful verse about the Mothers of the Believers. English — Sahih International And remember what is recited in your houses of the verses of Allāh and wisdom. Indeed, Allāh is ever Subtle and Aware. Sincerely, Hamidah Sẹ̀gílọlá Abbas (HSA) Author, Hall of Light https://about.me/hamidahabbas

Female Fatigue (A Brilliant Thought from Ad on Threads)

BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH Female Fatigue "There is a very specific female fatigue that comes from knowing exactly what is happening, explaining exactly what is happening, being told you are overreacting, and then watching exactly what is happening happen with excellent punctuality." — ad_fonso I saw this beautiful thought on Threads today as I was busy consuming the pages of social media. I thought, what a beautifully written wonder. So here I am, sharing it—or let's say saving it—so that I can come and take a look at it sometime in the future. I mean, what a waste it would be if I never saw these words ever again. I swear by ALLAH, I love words. And certainly, ALLAH is the Best of Speakers. Sincerely, Hamidah Abbas Letters (Hall)

Qur'an 19:61 (The Promise of ALLAH to You Will Come to Pass)

BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH The Promise of ALLAH to You Will Come to Pass Maryam 19:61 جَنَّٰتِ عَدۡنٍ ٱلَّتِي وَعَدَ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ عِبَادَهُۥ بِٱلۡغَيۡبِۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ وَعۡدُهُۥ مَأۡتِيࣰّا Sahih International: "[Therein are] gardens of perpetual residence which the Most Merciful has promised His servants in the unseen. Indeed, His promise has ever been eminent." I swear by ALLAH, the words of my LORD are the truth. I saw this verse this morning and thought: what a waste it would be if I did not share it. So here I am, sharing. Indeed, the promise of ALLAH to you will come to pass. Sincerely, Hamidah Abbas Letters (Hall)

About Life (I was trying to delete some of my notes, I saw this, so I decided to share)

About Life What's Life? Life's a design from ALLAH. Life is an artwork from ALLAH. HE designed us and gave us life for the purpose of testing us, and HE is the Most Compassionate Tester, the Most Merciful Examiner. And verily, all praises belong to HIM, for HE is the Most High. Why did Almighty ALLAH give us life? Because HE, Jalaluhu , wanted to. Because HE, Jalajalaluhu , wanted to test us. Because life is good for us in both worlds. Because being tested is good for us in both worlds. Because it's good for all that exists from among the people, creatures, and all that exists of the past, the present, and the future, if ALLAH wills. So, we've established that life has been given to us as a test. So let's discuss life as a test. Life as a Test Life is a test. We've been given life to test us. Life has been given to us as a test. A few teachings of wisdom to help you succeed at the test of life The reality that everything is good for you, even i...

Qur'an 5:67 (Convey the message and ALLAH will protect you from people)

BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH Qur'an 5:67: "O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allāh will protect you from the people. Indeed, Allāh does not guide the disbelieving people." As I was going through my notes, I saw this verse (Qur'an 5:67). Immediately, after I saw the verse, I remembered why I saved it. As knowledge workers, sometimes you become afraid of people. However, no matter how afraid you become. Always, remember to convey the message. Have certainty that ALLAH (Al-Hafidh) will protect you. Certainly, HE is the best of protectors. Sincerely, Hamidah Sẹ̀gílọlá Abbas (HSA) Author, Hall of Light https:...

Make Duaa (Make duʿā like a drowning person would)

BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH  Hudhaifah bin al-Yamān , Allaah be pleased with him, said, “People will come across a time when the only people who will be saved in it will be the ones who make duʿā like a drowning person would.” Muṣannaf Ibn Abī Shaibah , 37134 Sincerely, Hamidah Abbas Letters (Hall)

Some Pictures From my Gallery

Image
BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH Clearing my gallery, so I said to myself: these pictures must never be lost. So here I am. Why Imaam Ahmad closed his eyes (Didn't remember where I got this from exactly).  I felt this so strongly so I downloaded it. It captures how I feel exactly. I mean how can you say The Almighty God is a human. You mean, He urinated, defecated, felt hunger, and was finally humiliated and crucified?!!! Ha.ba! So He (The Most High) came out of the birth canal helpless and He (The Irresistible, The Almighty) was breastfed and on and on of such that is done with newborn babies. I mean, I have always been diplomatic with non-Muslims. However, I genuinely cannot bring myself to stand some of the things some of them say about The Almighty God. Something just turn in my stomachs when they say some of these things. Is it that they do not think?! I mean some of these claims are beyond reason. A human is a human. And God is God! Would you like it if I say a mosquito ...

Pictures from my Gallery

BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH I was clearing my gallery, and I said to myself: these pictures must never be lost.  So here I am with pictures that I refuse to delete. Downloaded This is what I've been saying. SubhanaLLAH, I found this somewhere on Reddit. It resonated so hard so I decided to share it. My LORD speaks The Most Perfect words. Screen Things I need to verify Anna Mack Seth Godin (As written by Tim Ferris - I think the story is that Seth did a podcast with Tim and Tim Ferris wrote these out from the podcast). I downloaded it from Tim's Threads and I uploaded it here. Wali LLAHi l Hamd. A.R.E Downloads ...

The completion of the 5-Days Shari'ah Intelligence Training by the Islamic Education Trust, Da'wah Institute of Nigeria, Minna

Image
BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH AlhamduliLLAH for the successful completion of the five-day training organised by the Da'wah Institute of Nigeria, Islamic Education Trust, Minna in collaboration with the Muslim Ummah of Southwest Nigeria (MUSWEN). The Da'wah Institute of Nigeria is an organisation that has conducted many trainings in partnership with many Muslim organisations all over the world including Australia, England, US, Bahrain, Malaysia, Singapore, Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Sudan, Maldives, etc. In the last 30 years, they've trained thousands of people. So may Almighty ALLAH preserve the institution. As we complete the Shari'ah Intelligence course today (17-June-2026, Wednesday, 2-Muharram-1448), I cannot help but thank ALLAH for the huge number of resourceful and brilliant people that He has bestowed upon the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ. One of the beautiful things about gatherings such as these is being reminded that the Ummah is rich with people of kn...

Day 2, Shari'ah Intelligence Training (Muslim Intellectual Development Program), Ìbàdàn, 2026

BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH One unexpected aspect of this training is that, so far, being in a room and sitting for multiple hours with people who hold different opinions on so many issues, yet remaining together in harmony, has done something to me that no amount of studying could ever do. In addition, witnessing the excellence of the Da'wah Institute has been a thing of beauty. Receiving the 322-page manual and other materials from the institute, the ID card, the commitment to punctuality, the quality of the refreshments, the exercise sessions, and even the depth of thought behind the name game—SubhanaLLAH. In case you have not noticed, I am a fan of very few people. First of all, I am a long-term admirer of my late grandfather, Shaykh Mas'ud Ọláńrewájú Adèpọ̀jù, the founder of Universal Muslim Brotherhood (UMB), Agodi Gate, Ìbàdàn. Secondly, I am also a fan of the Da'wah Institute. I remember my hostel mate showing me a presentation by Shaykh Nurudeen Lemu during my u...

Muslim Intellectual Development Program (Shari'ah Intelligence, Ìbàdàn, 2026)

BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH Today, 27 Dhul-Hijjah 1447 (Saturday, 13 June 2026) , I am attending the Shari'ah Intelligence Training, Ibadan 2026 , and I would like to share a personal reflection. The Muslim Intellectual Development Program (Shari'ah Intelligence Training) is a programme for Islamic intellectuals and thinkers organized by the Da'wah Institute of Nigeria (DIN) , under the Islamic Education Trust (IET), Minna . A few weeks ago, my father sent me the application for the programme. I applied, and, SubhanaLLAH, my application was approved. All praise belongs to Almighty ALLAH for the blessing of knowledge. As we sit here today , I pray that Almighty ALLAH continues to bless the Da'wah Institute of Nigeria and the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) , which collaborated on this programme. As an artist and author who naturally prefers personal research and solitude, I am deeply grateful for Islamic organizations and beneficial voices on social media....
