Why I call myself an Artist

Why I call Myselt an Artist BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH I am Hamidah Abbas , an Islamic thinker. I completed the Muslim Intellectual Development Program (Sharī'ah Intelligence Training) on 17 June 2026 . The five-day training was held at Bayseone Hall, opposite the NASFAT praying ground, Samonda, Ibadan, Oyo State. It was organised by the Da'wah Institute of Nigeria, Islamic Education Trust (IET), Minna, in collaboration with the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN). As a thinker, I have many interests and areas of research. However, my core area of interest is gender and polygamy in Islam . A simple way to summarise everything I do is: Spreading light. Whether it is “music”, salvation, agriculture, gender and polygamy in Islam, or society, my objective has always been to make things a little brighter than they were before. For me, it has always been light over darkness . I am from Ìbàdàn, Oyo State, Nigeria . I hold a Bachelor of Agriculture degree from the Fed...

Muslim Intellectual Development Program (Shari'ah Intelligence, Ìbàdàn, 2026)

BismiLLAH AlhamduliLLAH

Today, 27 Dhul-Hijjah 1447 (Saturday, 13 June 2026), I am attending the Shari'ah Intelligence Training, Ibadan 2026, and I would like to share a personal reflection.

The Muslim Intellectual Development Program (Shari'ah Intelligence Training) is a programme for Islamic intellectuals and thinkers organized by the Da'wah Institute of Nigeria (DIN), under the Islamic Education Trust (IET), Minna.

A few weeks ago, my father sent me the application for the programme. I applied, and, SubhanaLLAH, my application was approved. All praise belongs to Almighty ALLAH for the blessing of knowledge.

As we sit here today, I pray that Almighty ALLAH continues to bless the Da'wah Institute of Nigeria and the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), which collaborated on this programme.

As an artist and author who naturally prefers personal research and solitude, I am deeply grateful for Islamic organizations and beneficial voices on social media. In particular, the initiatives of the Da'wah Institute of Nigeria are pioneering and immensely valuable.

Certainly, the art of managing human beings is a complex one, especially for an autistic mind.

As we learn the technical concepts of Shari'ah, one central theme that stands out to me from the trainers is the statement:

"Unity is not uniformity."

Once again, may Almighty ALLAH bless the Da'wah Institute of Nigeria and the Islamic Education Trust, Minna.

My first personal encounter with the Islamic Education Trust was through my father's bookshelf. Among his books was a paper written by the late Shaykha Aisha Lemu (may the peace of ALLAH be upon her) on marriage.

I still remember her introduction vividly. She mentioned that she had often been invited to speak to Muslim women, and she asked a profound question:

"What about Muslim men? Do they not need reminders?"

Indeed, if you are a Nigerian Muslim, you are, in one way or another, a beneficiary of the legacy of the late Shaykha Aisha Lemu. Through her, Almighty ALLAH enabled the writing of Islamic textbooks that have been used nationally.

Through the Islamic Education Trust, we have also benefited from AMIS, mock examinations, essay competitions, and so much light that Almighty ALLAH has bestowed upon Nigeria through the institution.

And until today, Almighty ALLAH has preserved the institute and allowed its work to continue through the phenomenal Shaykh Nurudeen Lemu.

I am truly honoured to be part of this training.

What an honour and what a blessing from ALLAH.

What an AlhamduliLLAH situation.

Being selected for this training came as a blessing, and all praise belongs to Almighty ALLAH, always.

Sincerely,

Hamidah Sẹ̀gílọlá Abbas
